CHILDREN dive INTO THE MAGICAL WORLD OF POETRY TO develop essential reading AND WRITING SKILLS, BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEERS, and FOSTER SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL development.
EACH WEEK STUDENTS WILL TRANSFORM THEIR IMAGINATION INTO WORDS AND PICTURES THROUGH THE STUDY OF POET SHEL SILVERSTEIN AND HIS UNIQUE IMAGINATION, BOLD BRAND OF HUMOR, AND SPECIAL ABILITY TO CREATE CHARACTERS THAT ARE SILLY AND SCARY AT THE SAME TIME.
RHYME TIME ENCOURAGES CHILDREN TO DREAM AND DAREs them TO IMAGINE THE IMPOSSIBLE.
Students gain critical reading and writing skills as they PARTICIPATE IN FUN, MULTI-DISCIPLINARY, AND HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES.
In Rhyme time, STUDENTS CREATE their own POETRY BOOK FEATURING THEIR ORIGINAL WRITING AND ILLUSTRATIONS.
Some of Shel Silverstein’s poems featured in Rhyme Time:
“Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me Too”
“The Crocodile’s Toothache"
“When the light turns green, you go. When the light turns red, you stop. But what do you do when the light turns blue with orange and lavender spots?”
